Ford, Mazda warn owners to stop driving older vehicles with dangerous Takata air bag inflators
Briefly

Ford and Mazda advised owners of more than 475,000 older vehicles in the U.S. not to drive them due to defective Takata airbag inflators that were previously recalled but repairs were not completed. The inflators can explode in a crash, causing severe injuries or death.
The warning affects over 374,000 Ford, Lincoln, and Mercury vehicles from 2004-2014 and nearly 83,000 Mazdas from 2003-2015. Ford models like Ranger, Mustang, and Fusion were covered, while affected Mazda models include B-Series pickup and Mazda 6.
27 people in the U.S. have died due to faulty Takata inflators, with over 400 injured. Globally, at least 35 deaths have been linked to Takata inflators, leading to massive auto recalls. Takata's bankruptcy followed after the widespread issues.
