Fixing An EV Is Cheaper Than A Gas Car. Here's What Owners Say
Briefly

Electric vehicles (EVs) are cheaper to maintain compared to gasoline cars, with new data revealing that 53% of non-Tesla EV owners report lower service costs. Owners are increasingly using mobile service options, climbing to 19% in 2024. However, EV owners experience longer wait times for repairs, with Tesla owners waiting 23% longer and non-Tesla owners 34% longer than gas car owners. Despite these wait times, the overall cost savings with EV ownership outweigh the service delays.
Thanks to lower maintenance costs and fewer things to go wrong, an EV can save owners thousands of dollars every year-as long as it doesn't cost an arm and a leg to charge it.
The study revealed that it takes more time to get an EV fixed than a gas car, with Tesla owners saying they had to wait 23% more time to get their cars back from service.
