"We've made very clear that the future is autonomous electric vehicles," Musk said. He emphasized that the current model of human-driven cars is nearing its end as technology advances.
"Non-autonomous gasoline vehicles in the future will be like riding a horse and using a foot bone. It's not that there are no horses, but they're unusual and niche," Musk stated, illustrating the impending obsolescence of traditional vehicles.
Musk believes that car companies ignoring the shift towards autonomous vehicles will face significant challenges in the future, stating, "...most automotive companies have not internalized this, which is surprising... it's to their detriment."
He promised that all Tesla vehicles would be autonomous in the future, asserting that a "vast majority" of the seven million Teslas on the road are capable of autonomous driving.
