Police said KC Vernon Pries and Mary Jo Devera were apprehended thanks to drone surveillance, after being observed stealing items from a Kohl's department store. This incident adds to their lengthy criminal records, with Pries arrested over 25 times since 2004 and Devera eight times since 2001.
The use of drone technology allowed law enforcement to locate and capture the suspects swiftly. After fleeing a stolen vehicle, the suspects were tracked down by a drone that found Pries hiding on a roof and Devera nearby.
The stolen vehicle involved in the Kohl's theft was reported stolen in San Jose and was equipped with stolen plates. Authorities found additional evidence of crimes, including burglary tools and drug paraphernalia, highlighting the extent of their alleged criminal activities.
Both suspects face multiple charges including retail theft, vehicle theft, and possession of burglary tools. Law enforcement noted that Pries was also violating his parole. Their repeated offenses demonstrate ongoing criminal behavior.
