Driver who ran into back of big rig in fatal I-80 wreck identified

Mariah Zarate, 30, of Vacaville, tragically lost her life in a two-car accident on Interstate 80 on March 28. The collision occurred at approximately 3:55 a.m. when Zarate's Dodge Caliber struck the rear of a big rig that had stopped due to heavy traffic. Zarate was pronounced dead at the scene, while the big rig driver fortunately sustained no injuries. Following the incident, California Highway Patrol temporarily closed all eastbound lanes of the freeway from 4:30 a.m. to 8:30 a.m. to facilitate an investigation and clean-up of the wreck.
