Driver jailed after horror Norfolk car crash left two children seriously injured
"Mrs Justice Eady said "unlike" Bankhardt, Mr Wawrzenlzyk and Mr Huggins, who were both alone in their vehicles, "were both driving comfortably within the 60mph limit and in their lane." She added: "Equally they both sought to swerve to avoid a crash." The court heard that Bankhardt's vehicle crossed into the opposite lane and collided with oncoming traffic, leading to the serious injuries."
A driver was jailed for four years after causing serious injuries to three people in a crash on the A146 near Loddon, Norfolk. He drove a Vauxhall Astra at a speed over 70mph across into the opposite lane and into the path of an oncoming car. The collision occurred at 8.33pm on a 60mph road. Two of his three young passengers, including two children, were seriously injured. The judge found he was not deliberate but was in a highly distracted state, making voice and video calls and showing high levels of emotion and distress. The oncoming drivers were alone in their vehicles and were driving within the speed limit and their lane.
