Doctors reveal the disgusting reason you should NEVER eat in your car
Briefly

Dr Shivram Singh, a health expert at WINIT Clinic, warns that eating in a car is 'unsanitary' and increases the risk of food poisoning due to spills and crumbs that can harbor bacteria and attract pests. He emphasizes the importance of eating in a controlled and clean environment to maintain good health and hygiene, advocating for more mindful eating practices that consider both the safety and enjoyment of meals.
Dr Singh elaborates that storing and eating food in a vehicle heightens the chance of bacteria growth which can lead to numerous health issues. He cautions that the temperature variations within cars can promote the growth of harmful bacteria such as Salmonella and Listeria, particularly in the temperature range of 40°F-140°F, commonly experienced inside cars.
Dr Gareth Nye from the University of Chester highlights that previous studies have identified high bacterial counts in various car areas. Notably, the car boot had nearly 1,500 different bacteria types, while common touch points like the driver's seat, gear stick, dashboard, and steering wheel posed significant contamination risks. This underscores the uncleanliness associated with eating in vehicles.
