Cops Recover $6M in Luxury Cars Stolen by Home Invaders Before Shipping to Africa
Briefly

Authorities have arrested members of a criminal ring involved in the theft of luxury vehicles across New York, New Jersey, and Connecticut. These thieves targeted high-end cars by stealing key fobs from homes, allowing thefts without damage. They showcased the stolen cars in Bronx garages, selling them to overseas buyers, primarily in Gambia and Ghana. Law enforcement recovered 72 vehicles worth millions of dollars, with multiple serious charges laid against 19 individuals in New Jersey and New York. Officials highlight the extensive impact of this organized crime on local safety and market stability.
"These are not low-level crimes; they are part of a multimillion-dollar black market that fuels violence and instability," said NYPD Commissioner Jessica Tisch.
"This was a complex criminal enterprise that specifically targeted and stole high-end vehicles to be shipped to overseas buyers," said Director Theresa L. Hilton of the NJ Division of Criminal Justice.
