Brooklyn man says auto repair shop held his car hostage, racked up thousands in tickets
Briefly

Louis Denory's car saga illustrates significant issues with auto repair shops. After an accident in April 2023, his car was taken to A9's Automotive, later renamed State to State Automotive. Despite repeated excuses from the shop regarding repairs, Denory's vehicle remained unrepaired and accumulated more than $2,000 in parking fines. A judge directed the shop to pay the fines, but the current management refuses, complicating Denory's efforts to retrieve his car, which remains damaged and non-operational after being relocated without his knowledge.
In October, Denory said he learned shop workers moved the car to a lot near 86th and Foster. He tried to take it back, but the tires were flat.
I didn't know who to turn to, said Denory, expressing frustration over the long wait and inadequate communication regarding his car.
The judge ordered State to State to pay for those tickets, but a man claiming to have taken over the shop says he doesn't plan to pay.
Denory's Ford Flex was held for over a year at an auto repair shop and racked up over $2,000 in illegal parking fines.
