The bombshell findings included a Rolex watch and diamond ring and may finally break the case of Charles and Catherine Romer, who mysteriously vanished from a Georgia Holiday Inn in April 1980.
Human remains in the car 'conclusively show the bodies of two people were in the vehicle,' a Glynn County, Georgia police spokesperson Lawton Dodd said in an email to The Post.
The family had feared at the time the couple might have been murdered and targeted for their belongings, but relatives said it appears their disappearance was the result of a tragic accident.
'We are grateful for the progress made and the dedication of those working on this case,' said Christine Seaman Heller, the granddaughter of Catherine Romer.
