Ford has recalled 273,789 SUVs, including 223,315 Expeditions and 50,474 Navigators, due to a defect that may cause brake failure while driving. The affected vehicles, produced between 2022 and 2024, may have front brake lines improperly installed, leading to potential leaks and a noticeable increase in brake pedal travel. Although Ford reports no accidents or injuries linked to this issue, 45 owners have noted brake line leaks. Notifications will begin by May 26, and inspections will be conducted at no cost to the owners.
Impacted drivers may experience an increase in pedal travel, meaning the pedal would need to be pressed harder to apply the brakes.
The dealer will replace the brake line or air cleaner outlet pipe as required. There will be no charge for this service.
