Over the July 4 holiday weekend, Tesla's Robotaxi program logged its first crash, where the Robotaxi inadvertently collided with a parked car. This occurred as the Robotaxi attempted to navigate a local pizza joint parking lot but failed and ended its ride. After dropping off the passenger, the Robotaxi inexplicably maneuvered towards a parked Toyota Camry, resulting in a minor impact. The Tesla influencer, who documented the incident, noted that initial assumptions about driver intervention were incorrect, leading to the gentle collision with the parked vehicle's door.
The minor impact involved a Robotaxi making an awkward and unprompted turn into a parked car. Thankfully, the damage seems either minor or non-existent.
Chris originally believed that the safety driver was able to intervene before the vehicle made contact. But as he later pointed out that wasn't the case, and the tire lightly kissed the parked Toyota Camry's door.
