Today's decision will help ensure that online streaming services make meaningful contributions to Canadian and Indigenous content. Funding will be directed to French-language content, content by official language minority communities, and equity-deserving groups.
The measure will start in 2024-2025, raising roughly $200 million annually. Online streaming services have flexibility to support Canadian television directly.
