On Feb. 5 the federal government ordered most public servants back to the office four days a week starting July 6, with executives returning full-time on May 4. PSAC called the mandate insulting and said the government cannot change members' working conditions arbitrarily, warning it is prepared to pursue legal action. A prior PSAC challenge to a three-day in-office requirement remains paused while the labour board considers jurisdiction. The labour board recently ruled in favour of telework for Library of Parliament workers, potentially allowing remote work to be negotiated in collective agreements and prompting an expected government appeal.
