Most RSV infections are in babies less than 1 year old. But protection remains out of reach for many | CBC News
Briefly

Health Canada has approved an immunization called nirsevimab to protect babies from RSV; however, its availability is limited to a few jurisdictions including Ontario and Quebec.
RSV tends to infect very young children, with 51% of cases in those one year of age and under. Hospitalizations for RSV are a significant concern, especially this winter.
Only Ontario, Quebec, and the territories have contracts to provide nirsevimab for free. In other provinces like Nova Scotia, only high-risk infants qualify, leaving many parents anxious.
Dr. Jesse Papenburg highlighted that about 10% of hospitalizations due to RSV require pediatric intensive care, underlining the severe impact of this virus on vulnerable groups.
