"The kidnapping was a 'coordinated plan' after the brother stole 90 kilograms of cocaine from his employers, who were involved in drug trafficking."
"Abdelgadir was not one of two men who grabbed the boy, but Nishikawa wrote last week she was convinced beyond reasonable doubt that he was driving a Chevrolet Tahoe that was on scene during the abduction."
"Nishikawa wrote in her decision last week that Abdelgadir knew the boy was going to be kidnapped, that he had been kidnapped, and he 'carried out his role of standing by and being ready to assist if needed.'"
Samir Abdelgadir received a nine-and-a-half year prison sentence for kidnapping a 14-year-old boy in March 2020. The abduction was linked to a drug debt owed by the boy's half-brother. Superior Court Justice Sandra Nishikawa sentenced Abdelgadir to 11.5 years but credited him with two years for time served. The kidnapping was described as a coordinated plan after the boy's brother stole cocaine from drug traffickers. Abdelgadir was not one of the kidnappers but was involved in the planning and execution of the crime.
