Geilond Vido-Romero, a 24-year-old illegal migrant and suspected associate of the Venezuelan gang Tren de Aragua, was captured by the US Marshals after escaping from a federal immigration detention center in Colorado. He was one of two detainees who fled during a power outage on March 18. Vido-Romero has an existing federal warrant for his escape and another for failing to appear in court. The search for him was complicated when Aurora police declined to assist ICE immediately after the escape, citing delayed notification.
The US Marshals confirmed the capture of Geilond Vido-Romero, an illegal migrant believed to have ties to the Tren de Aragua gang, after two weeks on the run.
ICE stated that local authorities were notified immediately after the escape, but Aurora police declined to assist, claiming they had not learned of the escape until hours later.
