A recent poll of 500 cancer survivors revealed that 64% reported a change in their values post-diagnosis. The emphasis shifted from financial and family comfort to prioritizing health, family relationships, and new experiences. Notably, 80% now prioritize family, 62% their health, and 48% pursuing new experiences. Lifestyle changes such as increased exercise and healthier eating were common, and a majority feel better equipped to handle life's challenges. Despite increased resilience, 70% remain concerned about cancer recurrence, demonstrating the complex emotional landscape survivors navigate with vital support from family and friends.
Some of the most popular lifestyle changes people have made are walking more (45 per cent), upping their exercise levels (42 per cent) and focusing on their diet (39 per cent).
Serious illness can have an impact on our outlook. It can realign what is and isn't important in life, so it's only natural there might be changes.
