Canada has announced a 100% tariff on Chinese electric vehicles and a 25% tariff on imported steel and aluminum to counter perceived unfair trade practices by China.
Prime Minister Justin Trudeau stated, 'I think we all know that China is not playing by the same rules,' emphasizing the need for tariffs to combat China's over-capacity.
Trudeau highlighted, 'What is important about this is we're doing it in alignment and in parallel with other economies around the world,' indicating a collaborative approach.
Ottawa is also exploring the possibility of implementing additional tariffs on chips and solar cells as part of its broader strategy against China's trade practices.
