As border anxiety mounts, ads for smugglers in Canada helping migrants illegally cross into U.S. flourish on social media

Smugglers advertising their services to cross the Canada-U.S. border are openly using social media platforms, promising 'safe' and 'cheap' routes with no police involvement.

RCMP spokesperson Robin Percival cautioned that hiring smugglers does not ensure safety, stressing that the routes they provide can be perilous and may lead to financial scams.

Dan Anson from Canada Border Services Agency noted that their agency is vigilant, collaborating with other organizations to monitor social media for illegal smuggling activities.
