In late January, Ricardo Prada Vasquez, a Venezuelan immigrant working in Detroit, mistakenly crossed into Canada while delivering food. Upon attempting to return, he was detained by U.S. authorities and ordered for deportation. By mid-March, he was among detainees in Texas, but was not included in the group deported to El Salvador, leading to fears about his fate. Friends express increasing concern over his unexplained disappearance, highlighting the perils faced by immigrants in the U.S. and the complexities of immigration enforcement under the Trump administration.
Mr. Prada has not been heard from or seen. He is not on the list of 238 people who were deported to El Salvador that day.
The Trump administration flew three planes carrying Venezuelan migrants from the Texas facility to El Salvador, where they have been ever since, locked up in a maximum-security prison.
