Oakland's Chinatown will undergo significant road upgrades to enhance pedestrian safety as part of the Department of Transportation's 'complete streets' plan. Key features include wider sidewalks and pedestrian scrambles, along with certain streets like 9th, Harrison, and Webster being redesigned. While the plan is generally supported, residents express concerns regarding lane reductions potentially impacting car access, which may hinder parents picking up their children and affect local businesses' customer access.

Tran says one concerning issue is the lane reductions on certain streets.
