U.S. EPA approves two California emission rules, including EV mandate
Briefly

The EPA action allows California to enforce two major clean air rules, anticipated to prevent over 3,700 premature deaths and provide $36 billion in public health benefits.
'California has longstanding authority to request waivers from EPA to protect its residents from dangerous air pollution coming from mobile sources like cars and trucks,' said EPA Administrator Michael Regan.
'This might read like checking a bureaucratic box, but EPA's approval is a critical step forward in protecting our lungs from pollution and our wallets from combustion fuels,' noted Paul Cort from Earthjustice.
The Advanced Clean Cars II rule is set to culminate in a ban on new gasoline-powered car sales statewide by 2035, advancing California's aggressive emission standards.
