Britons got a short but sweet taste of the summer heat last week as temperatures rose to 31C in some parts of the country. The welcomed heat came after a drizzly and cold start to summer, with temperatures as low as 5C being recorded in June.
A Met Office spokesperson mentioned that the first two weeks of June had temperatures around 2C below average due to northerly winds bringing cold Arctic air. However, the latter half of the month saw high pressure and warmth in southern areas, with some places exceeding 28C for several days.
Although the warm weather was short-lived, there are indications of summer temperatures making a comeback, with the Met Office forecasting a potential increase in temperatures for the following week.
Met Office spokesperson, Andrea Bishop, hinted at conditions turning more settled after the early part of the upcoming week, especially across eastern regions.
