Two-alarm warehouse fire in Berkeley extinguished
"Fire crews early Tuesday extinguished a two-alarm fire at a large warehouse. Calls came into the Berkeley Fire Department about 4:25 a.m., and arriving firefighters saw the building completely engulfed in flames, Berkeley Fire spokesperson Assistant Chief Keith May said. That's when crews called for a second alarm because of the size of the blaze. Flames and smoke from the fire could be seen from Interstate 80."
"The warehouse is on 2nd Street, next to the shuttered Berkeley Forge & Tool in the 1300 block. Firefighters were unable to get inside of the building because of the intensity of the heat and fought the fire from the outside, May said. They had it under control and extinguished by 5:25 a.m., he said. Nobody was inside the building, and there were no injuries, May said. Investigators were working to determine what caused the fire."
