Three shoppers were injured in a Black Friday shooting at Valley Fair Mall in San Jose. Shots rang out around 5:30pm, sending terrified shoppers crouching for cover and prompting a police-ordered lockdown that lasted more than an hour. Dozens of police officers managed evacuations while hundreds of shoppers ran toward parking lots on Stevens Creek Boulevard despite assurances that there was no longer any danger. Police initially reported two victims and later updated that three people were transported to local hospitals with non-life-threatening injuries. Four hours after the shooting, no suspects had been confirmed in custody. An independent local website reported additional, unverified accounts of people still inside and a man breaking a bowling-alley window to help others escape.
