San Jose: Man dies of injuries from assault at VTA light rail station
"The assault was reported just before midnight Sept. 29 at the Gish station at East Gish Road and North First Street, and responding deputies with the Santa Clara County Sheriff's Office which polices Valley Transportation Authority transit lines found a 42-year-old man suffering from serious head injuries. An investigation determined that he had been severely beaten, and he was taken to a hospital. The sheriff's office said that he died around 11 p.m. Wednesday, 10 days after he was injured."
"A few hours after the assault, deputies arrested 23-year-old Brandon Fryshaw, and he has been held at the county Main Jail in San Jose ever since. Jail records show he is being held without bail after being booked on suspicion of attempted murder, which is expected to be revised to murder in light of the victim's death. The sheriff's office said detectives are investigating his connection to a separate assault, also in late September, of another unhoused person at the St. James light rail station."
