Sacramento Programs Aim To Help Unhoused Veterans | KQED
Briefly

The number of homeless veterans in Sacramento County dropped this year by 15% compared with 2022, following several years of significant increases. Advocates credit a greater focus on treatment and housing services as pivotal in achieving this decline.
Tanya Tabon, the homeless program manager for the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs, noted that while the drop in numbers is promising, there is still a "ways to go" regarding outreach and support for veterans experiencing homelessness.
Despite the overall decrease in homeless veterans, the total has remained stubbornly high, peaking at 667 in 2019. The most recent count identified 548 homeless veterans across Sacramento County.
