On January 31, 2025, SeaWorld San Diego successfully returned two rescued sea lions to their natural habitat. The first return of the year for the SeaWorld Rescue team, the pair had been rescued separately in December—one suffering from pneumonia and the other a malnourished 6-month-old pup. After receiving critical medical treatment, including fluids and formula, the pup nearly doubled in weight. Their release at Camp Pendleton was celebrated, showcasing the effectiveness of rehabilitation and the importance of returning wild animals to their homes.
Returning these two animals has been super rewarding and getting a chance to see them run back into the ocean, they stuck together, we know they are going to be successful out there and that's the number one goal.
This marks the first return of 2025 for SeaWorld's Rescue team, SeaWorld said.
