Sheriff’s Office personnel gave lifesaving measures while waiting for the arrival of medical staff who work inside the facility as well as fire and EMS personnel, authorities said. The woman was later pronounced deceased at the facility, authorities added."

The housing unit the person was in had received a routine safety check shortly before the medical emergency was reported, authorities said."
"Authorities from the Sheriff's Office Investigations Bureau, the San Mateo County Coroner's Office and the San Mateo County District Attorney's Office were alerted to the death and responded to the facility, the Sheriff's Office added. Each agency will conduct a separate investigation into the circumstances of the death. The results of the investigations will be made available on the Sheriff's Office website after their conclusions, authorities said. The Board of State and Community Corrections will also be notified of the death, authorities said."

The housing unit had received a routine safety check shortly before the emergency was reported. Investigators from the Sheriff's Office Investigations Bureau, the San Mateo County Coroner's Office and the District Attorney's Office responded and will each conduct separate investigations. The coroner will determine cause and release the identity after notification of next of kin. The Board of State and Community Corrections will be notified. A separate Friday incident at Maguire Correctional Facility involved a fight that injured deputies and several inmates.
