Oakland students charged with attempted murder in Skyline High bathroom shooting
"Attempted murder charges have been filed against two Skyline High School students in the Wednesday shooting of a classmate in a campus bathroom, authorities said Friday. Both suspects, 15 and 16-year-old boys who were arrested the day of the shooting, remained in custody at juvenile hall, according to authorities. The 15-year-old boy who was shot in the torso is recovering and is in good spirits, police said."
"The shooting happened about 1:25 p.m. Wednesday in a bathroom at the school, which is at 12250 Skyline Blvd. in the Oakland hills. Although both suspects were armed with what police said were semi-automatic ghost guns, it is believed the 15-year-old suspect is the one who actually fired shots. Police have said the three youths knew each other, but a motive for the shooting has not been confirmed."
"Both suspects tried to flee after the shooting but were unsuccessful. The 15-year-old boy was caught trying to scale a fence and a gun was found in his backpack, authorities said. The 16-year-old suspect was spotted hiding on the roof of the school gymnasium by officers in a police helicopter and was taken into custody by ground units. A gun was also found on the roof."
