"Nominations are open for Sunnyvale's 2026 Community Awards in the following categories: Distinguished Resident of the Year recognizes an individual who devoted a significant amount of time, resources or talent toward improving the community and making a lasting impact on the city; Educator of the Year recognizes teachers or school personnel who made a significant contribution to their school, students and community through their work in education at public, private, post-secondary or trade schools located in or serving students who live in Sunnyvale;"
"High School Student of the Year recognizes high school students who excel both academically and in their extracurricular activities. This award is open to high school students attending schools located in or serving students who live in Sunnyvale; Businessperson/Business of the Year recognizes a Sunnyvale business or businessperson who made significant contributions to the community through their leadership, community involvement, creative partnerships or commitment to enhancing Sunnyvale's reputation as a place to live, work and do business;"
"Contribution to the Arts recognizes an individual, group, business or nonprofit that made a significant contribution to the arts in Sunnyvale; Environmental Achievement recognizes the contributions of an individual, group, business or nonprofit that has gone above and beyond to improve the environment in Sunnyvale; Community Volunteer of the Year recognizes an individual who has made a difference to the Sunnyvale community through volunteer service; Nominations are due by June 1.
