"He said that he was proud of how the council handled the approval of three new housing development projects: Los Gatos Lodge, Genuine Automotive and Cafe Dio. We are slated to see about a dozen major development proposals over the next year, and I really think we need to take each of them completely, independently and really on a case-by-case basis, because some of the developments are reasonable and others are not, Moore said."
Rob Moore became Los Gatos mayor on Dec. 9 and Chuck Page became Saratoga mayor on Dec. 3. Page emphasized celebrating neighborhoods, addressing housing, and preparing for climate impacts. Both mayors voiced frustration over reduced local control as the state mandates more housing. Los Gatos has about 13 pending housing applications and Saratoga has 22 builder's remedy applications. Moore urged case-by-case review of upcoming proposals and supports expanding affordable housing and homeownership opportunities for younger families.
