"Margaret was born April 19, 1928, in Odin, Illinois, the eldest of two children, to Elester "Leck" Harville and Martha (VanSant) Harville. She attended Odin School 1st grade through high school, where she graduated twice! She graduated from 11th grade, then the school district added 12th grade so she went one more year and graduated again. Margaret went on to Southern Illinois University at Carbondale where she met her future husband, Wayne, whom she married March 27, 1949."
"She was a highly skilled seamstress, sewing everything from her wedding dress to placemats for every holiday or season, pillows, decorative items, and dresses for her daughters and herself. Her culinary skills were greatly appreciated by her family and friends. She also had a musical talent that she passed down to her children. Besides playing the piano, she was a member of a hand bell choir well into her 90's."
Margaret Pepple was born April 19, 1928, in Odin, Illinois, the eldest of two children of Elester "Leck" Harville and Martha (VanSant) Harville. She completed Odin School through the newly added 12th grade and attended Southern Illinois University at Carbondale. She married Wayne on March 27, 1949, and moved several times during his military service before settling in Palo Alto, California. She split retirement between Palo Alto and Odin. She worked in a dress factory and in retail, drove a van for Castilleja students, volunteered at a food pantry, worked in daycare, and belonged to the Order of the Eastern Star. She was a skilled seamstress and cook, played piano, and participated in a hand bell choir into her 90s. She died December 19, 2025, at home in Palo Alto with her children at her side.
