Man beaten by officers dies hours later in California jail intake room, lawsuit says
Briefly

According to the lawsuit, 'His injuries to his torso were so severe that they were classified as blunt force trauma.' The arresting officers from Riverside Police allegedly used unnecessary force while detaining Beitz.
An independent autopsy revealed, 'blunt force trauma on both sides of Beitz's lower back,' indicating that the severity of the injuries warranted immediate medical attention which he did not receive.
The complaint states that the officers knew Beitz was badly injured but failed to get him medical help, claiming, 'By housing Beitz in jail, the officers and jail employees put Beitz in serious risk of harm.'
Beitz's sister highlighted the personal loss, stating, 'He is dearly missed by his friends and family' and described her brother as a 'kind-hearted human being who was known and loved by many in the Riverside community.'
