Man accused of manslaughter after pregnant woman dies in California collision
"after police say he ran a red light, collided with another car and a pregnant passenger in that car died. Daniel Ramos, 24, was booked into the Anaheim Detention Center, police said in a news release. Due to the victim being pregnant, additional charges may be considered pending the outcome of the investigation, Sgt. Eric Anderson wrote in the release. Those charges would be up to the District Attorney's Office to file."
"The crash was reported at 12:09 a.m. at North Anaheim Boulevard and the 91 Freeway frontage road. Preliminary indications are that Ramos was driving a dark-colored Lexus sedan east on the frontage road when he ran a red light and struck a light-colored Toyota sedan headed south on North Anaheim, Anderson said. Ramos showed signs of being under the influence and was arrested, Anderson said. The female victim, found trapped in the Toyota, was pronounced dead at the scene."
A traffic collision occurred at 12:09 a.m. on Jan. 25 at North Anaheim Boulevard and the 91 Freeway frontage road when a driver ran a red light and struck another vehicle. Daniel Ramos of Riverside was arrested on suspicion of vehicular manslaughter and driving under the influence after showing signs of impairment and being taken into custody. A pregnant female passenger in the struck vehicle was found trapped and pronounced dead at the scene. The Toyota driver and two passengers from the Lexus were hospitalized and expected to survive. Additional charges related to the pregnancy may be considered pending the investigation and review by the District Attorney.
