Caltrans plans to demolish and replace both the northbound and southbound bridges on Highway 101 near Refugio State Beach due to structural issues.
"The existing ones have internal structural issues and determined need to be replaced," said Caltrans spokesperson Genelle Padilla, explaining the project’s necessity.
Upon completion, the new bridges will feature a single span design without columns, enhancing aesthetics and functionality along the busy highway.
Caltrans assures minimal traffic impact during the construction, maintaining two lanes in both directions on a crucial stretch of Highway 101.
