Local criminal charges against 44-year-old Richard Tillman were dismissed because federal prosecutors are pursuing arson-related charges for the same incident. Police say Tillman drove his car, allegedly loaded with Insta-logs, into the Almaden Valley post office in South San Jose around 3 a.m. on July 20 and set the building on fire. He may have spraypainted "Viva La Me" on the exterior and reportedly told officers he was Pat Tillman's brother while livestreaming the event. No injuries were reported. Federal court charged him with malicious destruction of government property by fire, to which he pleaded not guilty. Tillman had posted videos documenting a mental health crisis and delusional beliefs.
