The Los Angeles Fire Department Foundation has received around $20 million in donations in just a few days, a significant increase from their usual annual average of less than $3 million.
"There are just so many things they help with," Delia Ibarra remarked. "To me, they are gold," she added, emphasizing the importance of the foundation's contributions to the fire department.
The fire department's budget cuts proposed by Mayor Karen Bass led to public outcry, contrasting with the significant donations received by the Los Angeles Fire Department Foundation.
Foundation President Liz Lin described the response as "Absolutely overwhelming," highlighting the rush order needs for essential firefighter equipment due to the donation influx.
