
"ALAMEDA A fire at a residence Monday damaged a home, but firefighters kept it from spreading to other nearby houses, fire officials said. The blaze happened in the 3200 block of Otis Drive about 11:45 a.m. and damaged a pair of detached garages and backyard sheds that were in the backyard, Alameda Fire spokesperson Kevin Tidwell said. Fire crews saw smoke and fire burning in the backyard of the residence when they arrived, and that blaze spread to the detached garages and backyard sheds."

A backyard fire broke out about 11:45 a.m. in the 3200 block of Otis Drive in Alameda. Thirty-three firefighters extinguished the fire in 25 minutes. Crews remained on scene past 1:30 p.m. to monitor hot spots and clean up. Officials advised residents to avoid the area into Monday evening.
