Driver and dog spend 22 hours trapped in crashed truck in forest, California cops say

A 36-year-old man from Calpine, California, spent 22 hours trapped in his crashed pickup truck after losing control on Highway 89. The accident occurred on Tuesday afternoon, March 4, but he and his dog were only discovered the following morning when a passing motorist called 911. Rescuers included deputies and firefighters, who managed to free the driver after an hour of effort. Fortunately, the dog appeared unharmed and was taken into care by a friend of the driver, who was hospitalized with moderate injuries.
A passing motorist spotted the crashed truck and called 911 at about 10 a.m. Wednesday, March 5, sheriff's officials said.
Deputies, highway patrol officers, firefighters and medics worked for an hour to rescue the man from the crash.
