Desante Blake, 40, was sentenced to 23 years in prison after pleading no contest to multiple charges, including manslaughter and attempted robbery, in Larry Abercrombie's death.
Abercrombie's daughter expressed on Facebook, '23 years won't make up for the years of love we have and will miss out on but GOD will do his work.'
Investigators conducted 'extensive investigation at the time,' but no arrests were made. The case then went cold for almost two decades.
A breakthrough occurred when a cold case detective submitted touch DNA from Abercrombie's clothing to the county's crime lab for testing, leading to Blake's arrest.
