Did those who lit Mount Diablo High football field ablaze even know they did it?
Briefly

A fire broke out overnight on Aug. 24 in the middle of Mt. Diablo High's newly renovated multi-million-dollar field turf, rendering the field unplayable for the scheduled home game. Surveillance footage reviewed by police and arson investigators shows several persons, possibly juveniles, setting off fireworks on the field. Motives cannot be confirmed because responsible parties remain unidentified, and investigators note the actions seen on video may not indicate awareness that a fire would start. Identification is hampered by black-and-white footage and darkness. The first two home games will be moved to Concord High while the district works to restore the field within two to three weeks.
There is no way to confirm motives at this point since we don't even have the responsible parties identified,
However, just based on what can be seen in the video, they may not have even known that their actions started a fire.
Naturally the first instinct from the kids is that they're all bummed out,
I think the district's working really hard to make sure we're out on our field in the next two, three weeks. So, you know, we don't expect to be away from home too long.
