In response to the recent wildfires in Southern California, Sen. Alex Padilla is introducing the Wildfire Intelligence Collaboration and Coordination Act to create a national Wildfire Intelligence Center. This center aims to centralize information gathering and improve the coordination of wildfire response among federal and state agencies, tribal entities, and academics. Sen. Padilla believes the legislation, which receives bipartisan support, will significantly enhance the ability to manage fire events, ultimately protecting lives and properties while supporting first responders' health and safety.
When we're able to centralize and improve coordination and collaboration, that can make a big, big difference in the size of fire events when they happen, our ability to protect lives and properties, as well as the health and safety of firefighters and other first responders.
This proposed wildfire intelligence center would oversee information-sharing and coordination of fire response between federal and state departments and agencies, tribal entities, academic institutions and the private sector.
