A Riverside County optometrist was arrested after being filmed attempting to meet a 14-year-old boy for sex by an online vigilante group. The investigation started after a complaint to the California Board of Optometry from People vs. Predators. Zoeckler was charged with attempted lewd act upon a child and meeting a minor for lewd purposes.
The optometrist had sent sexually explicit messages to someone he believed to be a 14-year-old boy, acknowledging the illegality of his actions. After fleeing the encounter, Zoeckler was later apprehended and charged, with the case set to be prosecuted by the California Department of Justice's Cybercrime Section.
