The Coffee Pot Fire continues to grow in Sequoia National Park wilderness, and although the main corridor through the parks will remain open, they are likely to be impacted by varying levels of smoke and poor air quality.
The fire was 6,994 acres as of Friday with 3% containment, according to Cal Fire. The fire grew 1,311 acres from Thursday to Friday, presenting significant challenges to firefighters.
Visitors can expect 30-minute delays on Mineral King Road. Park officials recommended entering through the Big Stump Entrance to avoid fire vehicle traffic and the heaviest smoke.
