Brooke Adams is a twelve-year-old with Dravet syndrome who requires two aides and medicinal cannabis oil to control seizures. A prior court ruling allowed licensed vocational nurses to administer THC oil at school during seizure emergencies. Brooke was accepted into Spring Lake Middle School for seventh grade but the district later rescinded the placement, citing lack of specialized programs, staffing, and resources to fully implement her IEP. Brooke's mother reports that Brooke is again stuck at home, missing peers and education while the district and family dispute appropriate accommodations.
