Bay Area family of four found dead in apparent murder-suicide, authorities say

Milpitas Police Department Lt. Tyler Jamison stated, "We are deeply saddened by this tragedy. The loss of their lives was preventable, and we urge those in need to seek support, to prevent incidents like this from happening again."

The four bodies were discovered Tuesday night during a welfare check. Authorities hadn't heard from the family for three days, a concerning silence noted by relatives.

Authorities revealed that concerns over Vinh Nguyen's mental health had been raised, noting he was suffering from depression and had recently purchased a handgun.

It was noted that Nguyen, who had been undergoing a divorce with Betty Pham, struggled with insomnia and had a troubled mental state, which may have contributed to the incident.
