"The two people who were found dead inside a Bay Area liquor store last week were identified by authorities as 56-year-old Benigno Nuguid Pare and 25-year-old Anil Kumar Sharma. Firefighters responded to Avenue Liquors in Redwood City on Nov. 3 at about 5:30 a.m. after the business caught fire. The two people were found inside with "no signs of life" and "severe burns" after crews opened the roof, police said."
"It's unknown why the individuals were inside the store in the early morning hours. Investigators are still looking into the cause of the fire, the Redwood City Police Department said in a news release. According to the Redwood City Pulse, Pare was a manager at the store and would reportedly sleep in the building. A GoFundMe page for Pare's funeral expenses described him as a "one of the most hardworking, humble, and generous people.""
"Sharma was believed to be an employee, known by customers as "Mo," and also allegedly slept in the building, the San Mateo Daily Journal reported. Since the fire, dozens of candles and flowers have been placed outside the building, with some posters dedicated to "Benny." The Redwood City Police Department did not respond to SFGATE's additional questions. Anyone with information about the fire is urged to call the police department at 650-780-7100."
