"Police in Antioch are investigating the death of a 17-year-old girl who was pronounced dead at the side of a road early Friday morning. A report of a "person down" in the L Street area, between West 18th and West 10th streets, came in to police dispatch just after 3:30 a.m. Friday. That area is near the Contra Costa Fairgrounds & Event Park and Antioch High School."
"When responding officers arrived, they discovered her and "rendered medical aid; however the victim died at the scene," the Antioch Police Department said in a statement. "Based on preliminary information and evidence, the death is being investigated as suspicious." Officials later added that the girl was 17 years old and was not an Antioch Unified School District student. The victim's identity has not been released at time of publication."
